Title: Introduction to the use of climate models
The Peruvian sea is part of one of the four most important eastern edge ecosystems for world fisheries, the Humboldt Current System. To investigate the Peruvian sea and its resources, numerical models are used that represent the dynamics of the ecosystem components separately and together. An already classic methodology is presented here, to evaluate climate models whose main purpose is the diagnosis and analysis of physical phenomena, which considers measuring three summary statistics of error, variation and covariation. In fact, a case study on the representativeness of surface wind dynamics in CMIP6 global models compared to reanalysis data (similar to observed data) off Peru is briefly exposed. In addition, other facts about climate models are discussed.
